Two of the principal managers have had from four to seven year’s experience living and working within Indonesia, speak Indonesian and are familiar with Indonesia’s sometimes difficult business, cultural, legal, government and bureaucratic framework.
THE SMILING MANAGEMENT team brings a strong background of experience in property development, property management, building construction, business development and management, finance and accounting, food and beverage operations, guest relations, staff training and marketing.
But most importantly as Westerners and as part of the FIRST and ONLY Western organisation to undertake a property development project in Batam, they bring an understanding of the expectations, requirements and needs of expatriate residents looking for a quality place to visit, stay or relocate.

Trevor
Trevor has moved to Indonesia permanently to invest in and take charge of the renovations and upgrading program for the Smiling Hill Redevelopment Project. He also is Komisaris (Chairman) of PT Smiling Hill Investments. Trevor is a highly qualified electrician (27 year’s experience) with a background in general maintenance and building. Before moving to Indonesia he held the position of Electrical Supervisor at Hamilton Island in Queensland, Australia, which ranks as the largest island resort operation in the Southern Hemisphere. Trevor headed a team responsible for maintaining guest residences, bars, restaurants, kitchens, plant rooms and other facilities. He worked at Hamilton Island for 6 years and previously headed the general maintenance team at the nearby Brampton Island resort for 2 years. Previous experience included supervisory roles in a building automation company, in the building of the new Parliament House in Canberra and at remote mining sites in the Australian Outback. He speaks basic Indonesian and manages a team of skilled local workers to undertake the Smiling HIll renovations program. He is a Foundation investor in the Smiling Hill Redevelopment Project.
Ken
Ken is an American who has permanently moved to Batam in 2008 to be with his Indonesian
wife and children. He is a degreed accountant and Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
with a focus on management accounting and is Financial Controller for the Smiling

Douglas is an Australian who has lived in Indonesia for 7 years and speaks Indonesian.
He has a background in newspaper journalism, broadcasting, public relations, marketing
and economic research. He completed majors in Economics and Politics at ANU, Canberra,
before accepting a 4-
group and Client Representative for hotel and residential development projects. Douglas is President Director (CEO) of the development company PT Smiling Hill Investments and Consultant Adviser to the operations company PT Bukit Senyum Community Services. He is a Foundation investor in the Smiling Hill Project.
